"Torres buys the grapes for this chardonnay from the Talinay Vineyard, about 12 kilometers from the coast and one of the great sources of chardonnay (and pinot noir) in Chile. It comes from two sectors, one with a strong calcareous component and the other with a little more clay. According to winemaker Eduardo Jordán, the former lends strength and verticality, and the latter adds a little "fat" to the palate, all surrounded by lots of white fruit, slightly salty touches, and acidity, of course, as the great driving force behind it."

"The grapes for this chardonnay were bought from two of Viña Tabalí's vineyards in Limarí--one called Espinal, planted on alluvial and calcareous soils, and the other located in Talinay, from soils that are much richer in limestone. The proportion is 50% each, but what predominates is the acidity and tension of the chardonnay from Talinay, where it's influenced by the chalky soils and the Pacific breezes. The fruit is tart, and the salty sensation is persistent on the palate. A very fresh white with lots of personality tied to its origin."

In this vintage, they have eliminated all of the new oak, and in a cold year with rather high acidity, they opted for 30% malolactic fermentation to make it rounder and lusher. The wine, however, is an arrow of acidity, with very refreshing, almost crunchy citrus tones."
