Merlot is a variety with a long-standing tradition on these hills where it has proved a great adaptability to their peculiar pedoclimatic characteristics. The grapes reach an outstanding level of ripeness, giving very elegant and perfectly balanced wines which are extremely agreeable.
It has a deep red colour with light garnet tones. The nose is both intense and intriguing, fresh and fruity. It expresses a fragrance reminiscent of raspberries and wild blackbarries. In the mouth fresh and full bodied, with a good lingering finish.

The flavour is powerful, concentrated and has great depth with sweet and balanced tannins. In the mouth it is rich and dense, yet harmonious and elegant. The wine has a decisively long finish with significant organoleptic depth and a polyphenolic structure which ensures this wine's extraordinary longevity.
The 2016 Barbera d'Asti 'Montebruna' is a highly representative example of Barbera Asti. Even better, it won't break the bank. Sweet wild cherries, minerals, mint and spices flow this beautifully delineated, vibrant wine. As always, this is a somewhat hearty, rustic style of Barbera best enjoyed at the dinner table.
