South Tyrolean quiver, stilted of larch timber, natural, untreated. To the regular postsharpness scythes and sickles with the mowing of grass or grain the farmer needs a whetstone. This is carried along in a container particularly made for this purpose, the "Kumpf" - quiver, which is hung either around the body or to the belt. At the mowing the quiver is filled with water, so that the whetstone remains always wet (wet loops for the better guts effect). Nowadays the quiver serves in many farmhouses as a decoration article or as a vase for dry flowers and cut flowers.
