Grape varieties: Several varieties of Vernatsch (Schiava), age of the vines: 20 - 75 years.
Description: Bright, clear, light ruby; deliciously fresh, fruity and uncomplicated in style, a very elegant and eminently quaffable light red wine, ideal for social drinking.
Vineyard site: Manincor beside the Lake of Kaltern at an elevation of 250 m - a gently sloping, south-facing site. Here grapes attain full ripeness, the classic growing area for Vernatsch.
Soils: Sandy loam and chalk gravel with some loess content.
Harvest period: Late September to early October
Winemaking: The juice is fermented slowly with the skins for around a week at cool temperatures in order to preserve the grape's natural elegance and delicate fruit. The wine is subsequently kept for a short time in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels.
Serving Temperature: Cool, 12 - 14 °C
Best enjoyed: With typical Tyrolean platters of cold-cuts (speck) and cheese; the perfect partner for pasta and pizza, white meat dishes, also with fish and is an ideal party wine.
