Lagrein is a local grape variety, that due to its demanding soil requirements has so far failed to largely spread outside of its area of origin, Bolzano. For our Lagrein Riserva, we use the very best lots of Lagrein and keep the wine in French Tonneau- barrells for 18 months.
The late harvest and the high ripeness of the grapes provokes a powerful flavour of dark berries (elderberry, blackberry) and chocolate.
Its potent and round tannin encountered in the mouth makes us aware of the primitive charm this grape variety is known for. this the wine draws its liveliness, power and energy. Following the DOC-terms, after two years of storage, this wine is sold as Lagrein Riserva. At a time, when it has reached its optimum. Up to 5 years that point onwards it remains on this level.
