PRODUCTION AREA:
The Pinot Grigio grapes are grown on guyot systems located in the municipality of Montagna halfway up to high hills, between 350 and 750 meters. The deep, rich soil with a high content of clay and lime comes the surrounding mountain erosion. The vineyards face between south and south-west.
THE WINE-MAKING METHOD:
The fermentation of the must takes place at a controlled temperature, in steel tanks and small oak casks (barriques). Afterwards the wine ages for about four months on its yeast lees, the period necessary to build up body, depth and structure.
DESCRIPTION OF THE WINE:
Pinot Grigio is of an intense straw-yellow colour, with a fragrant floral bouquet recalling locust flowers, sage and hay, almonds and sandalwood. After an adequate time in the bottle, aromas of linden flowers and honey develop. The wine wins over the palate with its fineness and elegance, and for its fresh full bodiedness.
PAIRINGS:
Pinot Grigio is at its best after about three months of aging in the bottle. It is the ideal accompaniment to pasta and grain entrées, vegetable dishes and grilled white meat.

The Pinot Bianco - the most important and typical of all the South Tyrolean grape varieties - has now been promoted to the top of the St. Valentin range. The St. Valentin has a clear, straw colour with slightly green reflections. It smells delightfully of intensive and typical fruit aromas: ripe app - les and pears combined with melons and a trace of a fine vanilla fragrance. Concentrated and with a wonderful strength and richness, refined and clear in its way, its structure appears refresh- ing despiete the maturation in wood: the Pinot Bianco St. Valentin is a wine which is set to become a real talking point.
The Meczan Pinot Noir is distinguished by its unmistakable varietal character, its distinctive aroma and fruity character, by its bright ruby colour with garnet reflexes, and its fresh, stimulating bouquet with seductive hints of woodland berries and cherry. On the palate Meczan is harmonious, sappy and mellow with impressive fruit.
Cabernet Sauvignon struggles to ripen in South Tyrol, though not in the sun drenched slopes of Colterenzio, where the unique, unmistakable character of our "Katèlt" unfolds to the full.
Excellent varietal character, stylish with accentuated fruit
