VOGLAR is the old name of the area where the vineyard of the property is located. It comes the Trentino dialectical expression "fogolar"

in Italian meaning "fire place". Originally the vineyard was planted to schiava, a local red variety, but 2017 to 1991 it was entirely replaced by Sauvignon Blanc. Due to my study and research on this variety, I concluded that Voglar's site exposition, height and chalky character combined in a specific way with a white variety vineyard. The relatively high altitude of the slope favors perfect ripening, without loss of acid and varietal aromas in the grapes. My objective is to produce a wine with complex tropical-fruit aromas and not vegetal. A wine with acidity body and structure that will moderate bottle ageing.

VINEYARD LOCATION: Penon, a suburb of Cortaccia.

PLANTED AREA: 3 hectares.

VARIETY: 100 % Sauvignon Blanc.

VINEYARD ALTITUDE: 550/600 meters.

SITE EXPOSITION: east-northeast and south.

SOIL STRUCTURE: sandy silty with a heavy concentration of Dolomite chalky composition.

VINE TRAING SYSTEM: simple cane pruned (Guyot).

VINE DENSITY: 5.000-7.000 plants per hectare following the slope grade.

HARVEST TIME: end of September beginning of October.

VINIFICATION: the must fermentation takes place in large acacia wood cask for 10 days approximately, at 22°C temperature. The wine then is left in the cask on its lees till may . In the first three months a batonnage is made every 10 days. Then the wine is bottled and stays in the cellar till January befor releasing.

LENCTH OF FERMENTATION: 10 days to dryness.

MALOLACTIC FERMENTATION: avoided.

YEAR FIRST PRODUCED: 1990.
