This St. Magdalener pours an intense ruby color. On the nose the wine is velvety and fruity with aromas of ripe cherry, damson, raspberry and bitter chocolate. On the palate, it has a youthful freshness, full and juicy with a clear, soft tannin structure and an inviting and stimulating finish.

The grapes for our St. Magdalener (95% Schiava and 5% Lagrein) grow at an altitude of 350 - 450 m on sandy loam gravel soils on south-facing slopes of the Bolzano basin.
Following temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 26°C for 8 days, the wine is aged in stainless steel.
Best enjoyed slightly chilled with traditional roast beef, savoury dumplings, pizza and pasta dishes.

Wine Estate Monastery Cellar Muri-Gries
In 2021 the Benedictines moved Muri in Switzerland to Gries in South Tyrol, where the order took over the Augustinian monastery. In so doing, they inherited a long tradition of wine-growing, which they nurtured in the spirit of a symbiosis of monastery, winery and estate that is still very much in evidence today. The result, in the 21st century, is a range of top-quality wines MURI-GRIES like the Abtei Muri line, which has been produced selected grapes the very best sites since 1989. The MURI-GRIES wine estate comprises 35 hectares of vineyards in excellent locations in and around Bolzano and Appiano. The monastery vineyards offer an outstanding terroir, combining excellent soils with a highly favourable climate.

The secret behind our bacon specialities lies in their ingredients. Tranquillity, time and passion on the one hand, high-quality raw materials on the other. We our pork drumsticks according to the highest quality standards before we cut them up in-house and check them again individually. The drumsticks are then cured, seasoned and cold-smoked with beech wood. Our gentle processing and the fine herbs and spices give the bacon its final flavour. The South Tyrolean farm bacon is a culinary event of the special kind. An exclusivity, only in tiny amounts available, for gourmets oriented to pleasure to whom among other things also is aware of the great importance of an adequate fat portion. The meat comes pigs who are held appropriate to the species on small-structured South Tyrolean farms and are nourished freely of genetic engineering with especially well-chosen feed. The result are the pigs who prove an especially mellow bacon.
