Alcoholic content: 12.50 %

yr. 1974 Doctorwine:

95 of 100 Points.

"Doctorwine" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 1974 on 01.01.1970 with 95 of 100 points.

"Strangely enough, the color has only a medium intensity but at the same time a beautiful integrity. The cleanliness of the aroma is exemplary and there are even floral whiffs along with notes of chocolate, cinnamon and pine needles. The mouthfeel is rounded, soft and caressing. A wine at the peak of its splendid evolution and drinking it is a profound pleasure."

yr. 1991 Doctorwine:

94 of 100 Points.

"Doctorwine" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 1991 on 01.01.1970 with 94 of 100 points.

"A full, red color with a transparent edge. The bouquet has notes of orange and spice, curry and turmeric, crushed flowers and moss. The mouthfeel is solemn yet stimulating thanks to its broadness and drinkability. Despite the ‘classic’ year, the wine expresses itself with great empathy."

yr. 2012 Gilbert & Gaillard:

95 of 100 Points.

"Gilbert & Gaillard" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2012 on 01.01.1970 with 95 of 100 points.

"EN PRIMEUR - Elegant nose of black fruits with a subtle oak touch. The palate combines power, fullness and a substantial tannic structure. A traditional style with huge ageability where Cabernet-Sauvignon takes the lead role."

yr. 2010 Gilbert & Gaillard:

97 of 100 Points.

"Gilbert & Gaillard" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2010 on 01.01.1970 with 97 of 100 points.

"Intense hue. Profound, focused nose of ripe red fruit with delicate oak. Emphasis is on concentration on the palate. Tannic, massive and well-balanced. A broad-shouldered Pauillac. A good level of acidity ensures huge ageing potential."

yr. 2010 Tom Cannavan:

97 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2010 on 01.01.1970 with 97 of 100 points.

"There's a lovely sense of composed minerality on the nose here, with cedar and a herbal aspect and lots of schist and gentle smokiness. A gravelly note. On the palate this is very tightly wound and intense. There's a natural sense of purity to the blue-black fruit and that intensely mineral, graphite precision to the tannins. The tannins are huge but have a terrific sense of precision to them, leading this through to a finish that allows the juiciness of the fruit to breathe, and the lovely acidity that adds a sense of light and shade and illuminate the finish."

yr. 2009 Gilbert & Gaillard:

99 of 100 Points.

"Gilbert & Gaillard" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2009 on 01.01.1970 with 99 of 100 points.

"Intense crimson. Nose of fresh, ripe black fruit, elegant oak. Fullness is a key theme on the palate, concentration, fine grain, power, finesse. Remarkable."

yr. 2007 Gilbert & Gaillard:

97 of 100 Points.

"Gilbert & Gaillard" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2007 on 01.01.1970 with 97 of 100 points.

"Deep youthful colour. Complex and fresh bouquet, ripe fruit and coriander. The palate is dense and well-structured with fine tannins. Very classy."

yr. 2007 Tom Cannavan:

94 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2007 on 01.01.1970 with 94 of 100 points.

"Deep, very dark and blue/black fruit quality. A veneer of oak and just a hint of olive and resin. On the palate this has a swinging, tightly-wound core of very serious and structural tannin, though the tannins are ripe and smooth. There is dramatic intensity here, with hints of mocha and liquorice. Quite profound."

yr. 1997 Tom Cannavan:

93 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 1997 on 01.01.1970 with 93 of 100 points.

"90% CS, 10% M. Very dark and dense purple/black. Hugely mocha-like, coffee nose that is opulent yet complex, with notes of old roses and tobacco before concentrated cassis fruit with a dark, bitter-cherry note. This has lovely, heightened aromatics compared to any of the others so far. Smooth, medium- to full-bodied palate, with solid, concentrated black fruit and plenty of tannic grip. Though that espresso-ish warmth fills out the mid-palate, there is a mere hint of liquorice astringency, but this is undoubtedly a very concentrated example with good length. Lafite used only 28% of the harvest, so obviously that selection has paid off. Drink 2005 - 2015."

yr. 2002 Tom Cannavan:

92 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2002 on 01.01.1970 with 92 of 100 points.

"A very backward nose, less expression than Latour and Mouton at this stage. But the palate has Lafite's typical elegance and grace with a velvety texture and succulent blackcherry/pencil-lead notes. Probably better than the 1999, this is a more feminine version of Mouton."

yr. 1982 Tom Cannavan:

94 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 1982 on 01.01.1970 with 94 of 100 points.

"Similar colour, but has retained more depth at core. Rather more closed on the nose. There is a deep seam of black plum and liquorice with some nuances of minerals and earth, but this is deep, dense and savoury. The palate is wonderfully concentrated and sonorous; it seems to extend in a column of dense black fruit. The core is plummy and rich, with notes of bramble and earth, but then a creamy layer of blackcurrant adds to a fleshy mid-palate. The purity of fruit here really pushes through to the finish. Great length and probably a few years off its peak. Should go on for decades."
