93 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau d'Armailhac, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2010 on 01.01.1970 with 93 of 100 points.

"A much richer blackcurrant character than the Petit Mouton, with bold, cassis ripeness and berry fruit to the fore, a nice richness and slightly coffeeish feel to the oak. The palate has delicious freshness and the fruit stays very forward. This is remarkably well-mannered at this stage, the plush, sweet fruit absolutely the driving force. Tannins are very silky too, and this has a lovely structure, but one that is allowing the fruit to sing."

"Beautiful deep colour retaining a young rim. Ripe nose redolent of cherry and redcurrant. On the palate, a supple, melted wine highlighting lovely quality fruit. A light-bodied wine, already drinking well."

"Intense colour. Nose marked by the oak, notes of roasted coffee. Powerful, structured palate, some fruit but at the moment still rather rustic, but efficient."

"Quite solid, plum and blackcurrant fruit, with very nice fruit sweetness. Tannins are ripe and silky, but there is a spicy, powerful edge to them. Fruit is good, and finishes long and spicy."

"Quite subdued, but a very solid black fruit nose with a certain richness and plush depth. The palate is really savoury and svelte (better than Clerc-Milon) with lots of dry extract, but racy and elegant tannins,"

yr. 2006 Tom Cannavan:

90 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau d'Armailhac, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2006 on 01.01.1970 with 90 of 100 points.

"Big, meaty, dense and fleshy nose. The palate has a vivid, vibrant red cherry and blackcurrant fruitiness. Rather dry tannins start to kick in, which along with a firm spiciness and more of that earthy character, makes for a chewy, dense mouthful. Acidity is very good, and this is powerful and quite impressive."

91 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau d'Armailhac, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2004 on 01.01.1970 with 91 of 100 points.

"Intense deep crimson. Very fragrant; cherry and blackcurrant, with a lightness and floral edge, over some plummier notes and an almost kirsch-like ripeness. The palate is full, sweet and harmonious, with quite a fat, ripe red fruit quality and a smooth, silky texture. There's a warmth to the oak and the polished, very refined tannins, which with a coffee note and quite a generous plumskin acidity gives a very inviting, approachable profile. There is good depth though, in a delicious style."

yr. 2002 Tom Cannavan:

88 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau d'Armailhac, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 2002 on 01.01.1970 with 88 of 100 points.

"The nose is muted: some dull earthy notes. Like Le Petit Mouton: very tanninc but with a little more complexity. Black tarry fruits and cigar box notes. Quite dry on the finish. Again a little charmless."

yr. 1934 Tom Cannavan:

95 of 100 Points.

"Tom Cannavan" has rated the wine "Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chateau d'Armailhac, Pauillac, France" from the vintage 1934 on 01.01.1970 with 95 of 100 points.

"This has a gorgeous colour of rich burnt umber. Nose has just a beautiful old-claret profile with sweet cedar-wood, currant and ethereal flowery nuances, hints of exotic spice. Rich, sweet intensley flavourful palate with medium-body. Good fruit, a nice support from fine tannins and a wonderful sense of resolution. No edges to the silky, sweet yet subtle character. Magnificent wine."
