James Suckling 93 - Beautiful aromas of minerals, stones, roses and fresh strawberry. Some citrus too. Full body, yet agile and fresh with light cantaloupe lemon rind, white pepper and dried cherry flavors. There is something about the dark, inky Mourvedre, plus the salty sea air caressing the vines every night, that typifies classic Bandol. This wine is complete, and ready to serve cooled down a touch. Full throttle aromas of bramble, black and blue berry fruits, grape pomace, fennel, a sense of the garrigue and vineyard floor from the Mourvdre?; full and generous on the tongue with structure and potency and flavor echoing long and true to those first alluring whiffs. Just superb!
