Grape vaiety: Merlot, ...
Deion: Dark purple red with a delicate interplay of aromas embracing dark berry fruits, cedar wood with hints of tobacco. On the palate it shows power, concentration and impressive structure underpinned by ripe, mellow but assertive tannins; an elegant wine with impressive length.
Vineyard site: Manincor vineyard beside the Lake of Kaltern at an altitude of 250 metres.
Soils: Loam mixed with calcium carbonate, the clay and gravel content increasing with depth.
Harvest period: Mid to late September
Winemaking: Long fermentation, after which the new wine is put in wooden barrels and left in contact with the skins and solid parts for 4-6 weeks. It follows a 24 months' maturation in barriques (70 % new). The wine is subsequently bottled without filtration. Bottle refinement for two years.
Serve: 16 - 18 °C
Best enjoyed: As the highlight of a banquet and savoured on its own in completive moments.
