ABOUT THE WINE: In all of Alto Adige, only nine hectares (twenty-two acres) are planted with Red Muscat. The vine is very demanding, it requires a very warm and dry location, and it insists upon patient care in the vineyard. The blossom is female and is not self-pollinating, which often leads to blossom drop. In these, the tiniest of seedless grapes, there is a breathtaking concentration of aromas that are reminiscent of oriental fruit and spice markets. In a protected, very well-ventilated meadow area, "Rajas" Red Muscat has found its ideal micro-terroir. With drastically reduced yields, the nobly sweet wine with its typical Baroque fullness is an exact mineral reflection of its location. In the course of the bold, lengthy time on the skins, "Rajas" Red Muscat takes on a spicy tannin contour that initiates a provocative liaison with aromas of roses, cinnamon, rose hips, and orange peel.

The Kurtatsch Winery is one of the most important winegrowing cooperatives in South Tyrol and is located in the small municipality of Kurtatsch in the heart of the Überetsch region. The history of the winery goes back to 1900, when a few local winegrowers joined forces to produce wine together. Today, the Kurtatsch Winery has around 200 members who cultivate over 20 different grape varieties on a total of around 190 hectares of vineyards. The winery relies on sustainable cultivation of the vineyards, which is supported by the use of modern technologies and careful manual work by the winegrowers. The result is wines of the highest quality that regularly win awards at national and international competitions. The Kurtatsch winery is particularly well known for its white wines, first and foremost the Sauvignon Blanc, the Chardonnay and the Gewürztraminer. But also the red wines of the winery, such as the Lagrein or the Vernatsch, convince with their intensity and their balanced structure. In addition to the high quality of its wines, the Kurtatsch Winery also stands out for its innovative strength. For example, it received an award for its "Cold Cellar" project, which significantly reduced the winery's energy consumption with the help of solar panels and geothermal energy. All in all, the Kurtatsch Winery is one of the most important addresses for wines South Tyrol and stands for a successful combination of tradition and modernity, manual work and technology, as well as quality and sustainability.

>> dettaglio
It is a fine, delicately aromatic dessert wine, with a light ruby color and an intensive nose of tea-rose. It is full-bodied and spicy-sweet on the palate. This wine pairs well with a wide variety of desserts, for instance, poppy-seed strudel or beignets.
On the palate, it has a velvety, extremely berry-like effect like a French Burgundy, and tones of fresh elderberries and wild cherries give the subtle fruit sweetness a succinct, finely-spiced structure.
